Kings Camp - Timbavati Private Game Reserve Accommodation E-mail

TIMBAVATI PRIVATE GAME RESERVE

Kings Camp SpaKings Camp is a charming safari lodge in the north-eastern corner of the unspoilt Timbavati Private Nature Reserve on the western boundary of the world-renowned Kruger National Park. The old-world colonial style of King’s Camp is complemented by gracious hospitality and is reminiscent of the elegance of an era long gone.

After much planning, the Timbavati Private Nature Reserve became a reality in July 1956 when a group of conservation-minded owners of the game farms on the western boundary of the Kruger National Park joined together to form the Timbavati Association. Since then, Timbavati has been dedicated to the conservation of wildlife, while offering top service and comfort in the safari lodges on the reserve.

Kings Camp can be reached with a five hour drive from Johannesburg, or by commercial airline to Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport and a further drive to the safari lodges at Kings Camp.

Kings Camp Accommodation The colonial ambiance of Kings Camp is carried over to the 10 luxury suites, with modern air conditioning, telephone, mini bar fridge, tea and coffee facilities and safe in contrast to the old-world charm of high thatched ceilings, voluminous mosquito nets, Victorian bathtubs, and old-style mahogany furniture. Each suite at King’s Camp has an ensuite bathroom with both indoor and private outdoor showers.

Morning and afternoon safari game drives in an open vehicle with a knowledgeable Ranger from Kings Camp safari lodge get you up close and intimate with the Big 5 – lion, leopard, buffalo, elephant and rhino – and other wildlife. The wildlife is so prolific that you will see something special on every safari outing, whether it is a morning or afternoon safari drive in one of Kings Camp’s open game viewing vehicles or an early morning walking safari. A very knowledgeable Game Ranger will accompany you on both types of safari and will be able to impart some of his vast knowledge of the African bush and its inhabitants. The walking safaris are particularly geared towards opening a whole new world of small animals and plant life to you.

Kings Camp Bath After a day of adventure on an African safari at King’s Camp, a cool respite in the sparkling pool, a relaxing massage in the Therapy Lapa, or just a kick-back on the pool terrace overlooking a water hole, are just some of the options to choose from to unwind. A pre-dinner drink in the bar before heading off to a sumptuous South African meal in the restaurant, accompanied by a bottle of fine wine from the extensive wine cellars, make a meal at Kings Camp remarkable.

Other facilities include a laundry service, a gym, and a library with internet facilities.

Helicopter rides can be arranged through Kings Camp to give you an exhilarating look at the Blyde River Canyon and some of the spectacular waterfalls to be found in the Mpumalanga area.

The climate at Kings Camp is temperate, with hot summers and cool winters, sometimes with frost in low-lying areas. The temperate climate makes it possible to take a safari vacation at any time of the year.
